Collage: Layer by Layer Workshop
Revel in a technique that produces artwork unique to your own creative voice!
This workshop will be divided into two processes: The first process will be devoted to exploring the joys of painting unique translucent and opaque papers which will subsequently be layered into rich compositions during the remainder of the workshop. Simple color harmonies and mixing techniques will be shared to create delicate layers of both neutral and bright hues, guaranteeing cohesive and visually alluring results. Students will be amazed by the beautiful, serendipitous textures revealed in their hand painted papers! Tips for additional enrichment and alteration of the papers and the collage surfaces will be demonstrated and applied. The second process will utilize a special technique to adhere the layers of hand painted paper to a mat board substrate while designing a visually stimulating composition. Symbolism personal to the students will be explored and utilized to emphasize their own personal statements. Participants will be introduced to worry free compositional approaches, editing and simplification techniques, surface enhancements and suggestions for final presentation.
