Seescape 3
Inspiration: Renditions of light, transparency, translucence and reflection are where transparent watercolor shines above all other mediums. Artists often use floral paintings to exhibit their skill in rendering these delicate qualities, but many jurors feel that the subject matter has become cliché and few flower paintings are selected for national juried exhibitions. I was searching for alternatives when sunglasses came to mind and a myriad of possibilities unfolded compositionally and symbolically. This painting is the third in an ongoing series entitled “Seescape”, based on this concept which is both expressive and challenging.
